Deciphering the Nrm1 molecular switch: A new link between cell cycle progression and transcription
This study identified the protein Nrm1 as a critical, bistable molecular switch that coordinates cell cycle progression with global transcriptional control. This research demonstrates how Nrm1 undergoes precise, cell-cycle-dependent structural and biochemical transitions to shut down transcription at specific checkpoints, ensuring the fidelity of cellular division. By combining advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques with computational modeling, this manuscript provides a mechanistic blueprint of how cells gate genetic expression in response to cell cycle signals, uncovering fundamental regulatory circuits that are often disrupted in hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer.
